lyrics

[the tale begins as our frustrated and disillusioned protagonist leaves his neighborhood in search of nature and desperate for change. while in a wooded area, he comes across a strange hollow opening into a large oak tree, and steps inside to find a portal leading below. without much thought, he hops in, and thus begins our journey...]

mother said to pack a joke and pack a punchline / pack a punch and pick a pack of munchies for lunchtime / never pick a pack of smokes, never pick a pack of bad blokes / by admission didn't listen and my youth was soon missin’ / i was misled, jaded, traded spellunkin’ and studies / for gettin faded in a stupor, parading with drunken buddies / a fuddy duddy till i reached my late twenties / went from stalemate to checkmate / holy grails & breastplates / fascinated with fantasy from a young age / borderline delusional, fancied myself a young mage / i always said ‘someday i'll run away,’ till one day / i started on a round trip, which ended up a one-way / i left the hood, walked into the woods feelin' rotten / stumbled upon the portal to a place long forgotten / a hole within a giant oak tree, so i got in / plus a hole inside the tree's bottom, so i dropped in!

{{{dropping sound}}}

i floated down slowly for what seemed to be eternity / returning wouldn't likely be an option, it occurred to me / gasped for breath urgently, the air felt electric / took a second to adjust, like calculatin’ stuff in metric / gradually i felt my body twirl & turn vertical / pages from ancient books, whirled about liturgical / ever so lightly, feet touched upon ground / i looked around, the rustle of paper the only sound / my unbelieving eyes began surveying my surroundings / the scope of what i started to purvey was astounding! / in the base of the hollowed tree i saw a small doorway / which opened to a foyér, before a long hallway / i walked along its length, my strength now returning / came upon an otherworldly library of learning / i thought i was AllOne, but then a man in a robe / stepped toward me from the shadows with an hourglass & globe...

i felt madder than a hatter, madder than a march hare / mater fact it made me mad that he was glad at my despair / i saw red, like a matador's gore matted hair / when he said "matter doesn't matter like it mattered over there!" / he held the globe before the orbs of my eyes and they rolled / to see the object of the world transform into a scroll / he cast the hourglass aside, and as it shattered on the marble / said "time is but illusion!" in his grumpy old garble / the grains of the hourglass sand then returned to his hand / in the form of newborn man / "behold, it is you in control your soul / and into thy destiny the best of thee fold." / from form into formlessness poured into a mold / change names, as alchemist's base into gold / i felt a mystical flash of inspiration crystal clear / without the slightest hesitation i proclaimed "Disipia!"
